Many textile conservators who volunteered at the Australian War Memorial (AWM) in the 1980s would remember Wendy Dodd, who mentored many of us in the techniques of preventive conservation underpinning the ‘less-is-more’ approach to conserving the AWM collection. With a firm but quiet demeanour, Wendy shared her passion for textiles, her art and expertise in textile conservation. She was also an artist in her own right, incorporating her own DNA into pieces made from hair. She was generous with her time and knowledge. She will be greatly missed.
