The Paintings Special Interest Group represents AICCM members with a special interest in painted surfaces in all their various forms, including but not limited to, traditional easel paintings, Indigenous Australian paintings, contemporary paintings and wall paintings.

Our membership includes conservators working in public institutions and private practice, as well as students, researchers and allied professionals. Our collective interests and expertise are wide-ranging, encompassing conservation treatments, conservation science, technical art history, framing, art authentication and preventive conservation.

The main objective of the group is to foster support and collaboration amongst members in diverse geographical locations around Australia, and to pursue new opportunities for ongoing learning, professional development and innovation in our field.

The main fixture of our calendar is a themed biennial conference, providing the opportunity to share current projects, and discuss broader trends and challenges facing our profession. From time-to-time, we hold professional workshops on advanced treatment and research techniques, delivered by recognised Australian and International experts in the field.
