Barbara van Ernst AM Natural History Conservation Bursary

AICCM is offering 3x $1,500 bursaries to support presentations at the forthcoming ICOM NATHIST Conference. The event will take place in Adelaide between November 9–11, 2026.

Bursaries may be used by AICCM members located outside of Adelaide for conference registration, economy flights, accommodation, meals and reasonable travel-related incidental expenses. Recipients must have been formally accepted into the conference program.

Terms and Conditions

Successful applicants are required to:

  • attend the conference and deliver their accepted presentation;
  • acknowledge Professor Emeritus Barbara van Ernst, Member of the Order of Australia, and the Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material using approved wording;
  • provide a headshot and biography of no more than 100 words;
  • complete a short post-conference report within four weeks, covering their key learning, professional benefit and contribution to natural history conservation;
  • provide information for our report to Barbara on the outcomes of her support;
  • contribute to a post-conference webinar or another agreed knowledge-sharing activity;
  • meet with the Bulletin editors to discuss developing their presentation for publication;
  • provide receipts or other evidence of expenditure and return any unspent funds; and
  • consent to the use of their name, photograph, biography and bursary outcomes in Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material communications, including the website, electronic newsletter and social media.

Adelaide-Based Conservators

Barbara van Ernst AM is generously supporting conference attendance for 2 x Conservators based in Adelaide. This will be arranged via a separate call-out.
