Our Photon Special Interest Group are members who work with photographic media, including photographic and digital prints, film and negatives. Members’ interests include the history of photography, photographic preservation, conservation treatment, the display of photographic materials and conservation research.

Monica Connors

Monica is a paper, photograph, and motion picture film conservator working in the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia’s Audiovisual Conservation department. She has previously worked with the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, and interned with the Grimwade Conservation Services, Preservation Australia, and Conservation Resources. Monica is currently Treasurer of the AICCM’s ACT Division, and Secretary of the NFSA’s Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group. Her research interests include all manner of photographic materials, and conservation in Australian First Nations communities.

Cheralyn Lim

Cheralyn is a paper and photographs conservator with a focus on community heritage, activism, and advocacy. She has worked with Australian collections including Warmun Art Centre, Kanemkek-Yile Ngala Museum, Brook Andrew Studio, and the Australian War Memorial. She is currently an editorial assistant with the AICCM Bulletin. Since completing the Master of Cultural Materials Conservation in 2021, Cheralyn has been employed as a research assistant with the Grimwade Centre. There, Cheralyn supports the Centre’s Indigenous and community partnerships and initiatives, including the Miegunyah Community Fellowship program.
