A museum or gallery may not have conservation facilities it can contribute to the preservation of material by carrying out preventive conservation practices. These include control of the environment, insects, rodents, and mould growth. Also the training of staff to handle objects, to be prepared for a natural disaster such as fire and flood and to be aware of the security requirements of the institution.
