Overview
Writing for a job can be daunting, particularly when you least expect it. A great job crops up, and you know you can do it – in a mad rush you throw in an application, only to be disappointed.
This presentation will discuss how to apply and write for a job to get the best chance of gaining an interview. We will discuss how you:
- Maintain consistency from start to finish (for those pesky algorithms)
- Prepare before drafting your application
- Draft the application
- Match your resume against each specific job
- Prepare for the interview process and how that relates to what you wrote
- Brief your referee so they know how to describe you in the best manner possible for that job
- Obtain feedback if unsuccessful by asking the right questions
Gerard Hogan has been helping people apply for jobs for at least 20 years in APS, state government, and non- government roles, including chairing panels. He will share what success looks like from an assessment perspective and show you how to utilise previous applications for when that last minute dream job arrives. You won’t be left unprepared but able to rapidly send off a professional and sound application.
