Ian studied conservation at the CCAE commencing in 1978. In 1980 he took a position as a conservator at the National Archives of Australia. He remained there for 30 years and rose to the position of Director, Preservation. Over the years he has achieved his master’s degree and has been involved in many important projects including the establishment of a standard for archival quality paper and the intensive treatment of the Walter Burley Griffin designs for Canberra. Since retiring from the NAA Ian has worked as a sessional lecturer at the University of Canberra.

Ian Batterham
