Following on our very successful combined GOCSIG and CFSIG symposium, AICCM – FRAME: Concept, History and Conservation, Melbourne 2016, held at the National Gallery of Victoria International, Louise Bradley and Barbara Dabrowa have begun early planning for the AICCM symposium “FRAME: Concept, History and Conservation”, Sydney 2019. We would like to make our Sydney symposium just as wonderful as our Melbourne event so please contact us if you would like to join the organising committee.
Frank Filippone, the organiser of Art and Frame 2017 (the picture framing industry trade fair), has again offered a stand to AICCM. The show will be held August 11–13 from 10 am to 5 pm at Royal Randwick, Sydney. For more information go to http://theframingshow.com.au
If anyone would like to coordinate the stand and help to promote conservation to the framing industry please contact Louise by email. The Art and Frame event presents a good opportunity for conservators to see the products available in the framing industry for hinging of work on paper and for mounting objects and textiles.
In exchange for the stand for AICCM, members are asked if they could present talks and workshops during the show. This year Adam Godjin, Jochen Letsch, Eliza Penrose, Wendi Powell, and Katie Wood will present talks on identification of conservation issues and June Anderson will speak on the term “acid free”. Louise Bradley and Sophie Brown will be presenting a shortened version of Nick Zihrul’s workshop “Reproducing Historic Decorative Mounts”, focusing on paper wrapped mounts, line-work and wash panels. We need a painting conservator who would like to present the talk “Identification of Conservation Issues: Painting”, on Friday 11 August from 12:00 to 1:00. We also need volunteers to help to mind the stand each day and to assist in the “Bring an Object” session on Sunday morning. If anyone would like to help in any way please contact Louise.
