The Book & Paper Special Interest Group is delighted to announce its three new convenors: Analiese Treacy, Jennifer Todd and Caitlin Knight.
Analiese Treacy is the Senior Conservator of Paper at the Art Gallery of NSW. She has been working as a conservator for over 20 years and has a keen interest in the conservation of prints, drawings, watercolours, contemporary/installation art and photographic materials.
Jennifer Todd is currently working as a paper conservator at the NLA. She has a special interest in the conservation of bound volumes, manuscripts and works of art on paper.
Caitlin Knight is currently a student at the University of Melbourne Masters of Cultural Material Conservation course. She is specialising in paper conservation with a focus on bindings, works on paper and parchment. Prior to studying, Caitlin has a background as a commercial hand bookbinder.
We are hoping that our combined backgrounds and interests, in addition to the fact that we are at varying stages of our careers, will prove useful in ensuring the SIG can represent and speak to a wide and diverse conservation audience.
We are currently in the process of setting up a Book & Paper SIG Facebook page and encourage all interested conservators to join us. We hope to fill the page with lively, relevant content relating to conservation news, workshops, courses, talks, and events overseas and within Australia, not to mention information on new materials, interesting publications, new appointments or any information that might be of interest to the Book & Paper Community. We welcome everyone to join and contribute to the group as the Facebook page will only be as good as the content added. Further details will be sent out once the page has been launched!
We are also exploring ideas for future Book & Paper SIG events and welcome any feedback or suggestions. If you have ideas you would like to share with the convenors, or indeed any ideas on how we can maximise the effectiveness of the SIG, please do not hesitate to make contact: Analiese, Jennifer, Caitlin
