Vic Division have ended the year with some really exciting events. We helped host the National Council AGM on 20th September and then, along with the GCCMC, SC@M and the Macgeorge bequest, supported the excellent ‘Off the Record—International Plastic Conservation Research and the PolyMuse Project’ held at the Grimwade. This event was a wonderful opportunity to hear from students and partner institutions involved in the PolyMuse project and to get an update on all of the great research being undertaken. On the 21st of November Vic Division partnered with the Book and Paper and Photon Special Interest Groups and the GCCMC to present a screening of the documentary ‘1000 Hands of the Guru: Saving Bhutan’s Sacred Arts’, about a project to save and conserve painted thangka scrolls while simultaneously establishing a thangka conservation centre in Bhutan. Special thanks to conservator Ephraim Jose for speaking about the project after the film screening and to the Book and Paper and Photon Groups for their work in making this beautiful film available to the broader Vic Division membership. And Vic Division finished the year in style with Christmas drinks at Eva on Drummond on Thursday 6th December.
