News from the Grimwade Centre

The Grimwade Centre conducted its Ngarranggarni: Gija Art and Country subject at Warmun Community in the Kimberley region of Western Australia in June, coinciding with the Warmun Art Centre’s twenty-year anniversary.

People and Places—September 2018

This data will be used to prioritize projects on our vast Natural Sciences Collections into the future. Our recent audit has projected a collection size of just under 20 million – the vast bulk of that being Natural Science specimens.

AICCM Victorian Division News

Vic Division have had a busy last few months, culminating in the AGM which was held before the annual Vic Division Winter Movie Night at the Kathleen Syme Centre on 15th August.

Western Australian Division News

WA AICCM has been continuing our run of holding a monthly social get together for members. Conversation ranges from picking others brains on treatment options and where to get conservation supplies to chatting about holiday plans and where to get the best cider.

Conversations about Gels in Conservation — Review

In May, the Art Gallery of NSW hosted a casual evening of talks in their conservation labs for AICCM NSW Division members to discuss the use of ‘Gels in Conservation’.

Call for papers & posters: Textile Special Interest Group Symposium 2019

The 2019 AICCM Textile Special Interest Group Symposium: Fibre to Fabric, Fur, Feather and Finishes will be held on 4-6th February 2019 in Sydney with keynote speaker Dinah Eastop, an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL.

AICCM NSW Event - Conservation Management of the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Have you seen the remarkable changes happening to the Sydney Harbour Bridge? Heritage lanterns are being reinstated, unsightly additions are being removed to reduce clutter and painting works are ongoing.

President’s Report—June 2018

I would like to say a big welcome from the AICCM National Council and membership to Rose Maurice, our new editor of the E-News! Rose is currently studying the Masters of Cultural Material Conservation at the University of Melbourne and has experience writing for publications such as Beat magazine.

Tasmanian Division News

On Friday the 25th May, members of the Tasmanian Division had a fascinating tour of the newly established Collection of Medical Artefacts (COMA) housed at the University of Tasmania’s residential college, Jane Franklin Hall.
