The 18TH ICOM-CC Triennial conference was held in September this year, in the picturesque city of Copenhagen.

There was a large attendance this year; about 200 people more than 2014, which was held in Melbourne. Some streams proved to be so popular amongst the general attendees, that the room in the venue had to be changed to accommodate people who had been lining the edges of the room and sitting on the floors for particular presentations.

There was a brilliant variety of topics encompassed by the conference theme; ‘Linking past and future’, and for me personally there was never a dull moment. Towards the end of the week the program emptied out a little more, which allowed many attendees to sneak in some time to see Copenhagen, the city.

The conference venue was the Tivoli Hotel and Conference Centre, which was very accommodating; with a large central room which housed the key note talks and poster presentations. Every evening there was a social event of some description (some people expressed the opinion that this was too many) which were each held in a different cultural venue around Copenhagen such as the Royal library, The Lapidarium of Kings and the Statens Museum for Kunst.

One of the highlights during the week was the site visits; I attended the trip out of Copenhagen to Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerod, which was an exceptional castle which had been heavily restored after a fire. The only negative was that the trip was very short, and so we had a condensed tour conducted by one of the local conservation staff.

Overall the conference seemed well organised, though the scheduling was very tight, and most attendees seemed pleased with the week.
