The National Library of Australia is the custodian of a rich collection reflecting the people and culture that shape Australia and Australians. The Library is seeking to fill the role of Coordinator, Conservation for Digitisation within the Collection Care Section. The primary focus of this position is to facilitate access to the Library’s collection through the conservation treatment and preparation of objects for digistation.

This work will encompass the:

  • management of the conservation for digitisation workstream including related workflows and reporting and stakeholder management,

  • complex conservation and preventive treatment, and

  • contribution to the management and continuous improvement of the Collection Care section.

Successful applicants will:

  • be able to work under limited direction,

  • be well organised, and able to establish and maintain clear plans and time frames across multiple Library-wide digitisation projects.

  • have good communication skills and the ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups,

  • be able to initiate improvements in workflow management

  • have skills and experience in the conservation treatment of book and paper-based collections.

Role requirements – Relevant qualifications in cultural heritage conservation and extensive hands-on experience of the treatment of library materials.
