2019 Outstanding Service to the Conservation Profession

Sue Frost

This year’s award goes to the worthy candidate Sue Frost. Sue’s career spans forty years and over this time Sue has contributed to the AICCM through the NSW division as one of the founding members, as a co-editor on the Bulletin, and through the textiles SIG.

Sue was one of the early graduates from the Canberra course and while conservation was still young in Australia she sought experience overseas, working at the textiles department in the V&A. She brought this knowledge and experience back to Australia; and as well working at a number of intuitions, was also the second staff member (after Julian Bickersteth) to join Campbells Conservation.

While Sues list of achievements is impressive, what really shone through was the way in which she worked with people. Her endless patience for others, selfless approach to sharing her experience and knowledge, and non-judgmental approach have meant she has continually opened opportunity for learning and growth.
