Conservation of Rock Art. Proceedings of the International Workshop on the Conservation of Rock Art, Perth, September 1977 (1978), pp. 3-5

Abstract

The Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies has supported, among many of its activities, the recording and conservation of rock art in Australia since 1973. This has mainly been in the form of grants to employ field officers throughout Australia to carry out an active fiveyear program of recording rock art and the employment of a rock art conservator at the W. A. Museum. Also discusses the problems of rock art conservation from the point of view of the Aboriginal, for whom, in places, the art is still part of his tradition.
