Contributions to the 7th AICCM Book, Paper and Photographic Materials Symposium 29g31 August 2012 Brisbane, Australia

Abstract

The Bridge Street Plan Room Project was a Department of Lands NSW project, which involved the digitisation and relocation of over a million pieces of paper from the Plan Room at Bridge Street in Sydney to the State Records Office of NSW in Kingswood. Preservation Australia was closely involved in this project, consulting on many aspects such as assessment, treatment, storage rehousing and transport. This paper focuses on the rolled plans of the collection, which were stored in cardboard tubes. It describes the types of plans found in the collection, how they were stored and handled, and what effect this had on their deterioration.
