AICCM is pleased to present the 2018 Textiles Special Interest Group Symposium, Fibre to Fabric, Fur, Feather and Finishes, held in Sydney from the 11th to the 13th of July, with keynote speaker Dr. Dinah Eastop. 

The symposium will host a range of exceptional textile conservators and practitioners to present papers on conservation research, treatment developments, interesting case studies, mounting and display, and more. Dr. Dinah Eastop, Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL, will present two papers on 'Conservation as Enacted Ethics' and 'Conserving What Matters in Textiles and Dress’.
The AICCM Textiles SIG has partnered with a number of museums for group outings. Our host, the Sydney Jewish Museum, will provide a curated tour of the museum and archives. A visit to the 'Reigning Men: Fashion in Menswear' exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum and the Sydney Maritime Museum’s exhibition 'Women of The River Country' will also be included, plus some exciting extras.


Call for papers & posters: Textile Special Interest Group Symposium 2018 

We are pleased to announce the 2018 AICCM Textile Special Interest Group Symposium: Fibre to Fabric, Fur, Feather and Finishes will be held on 11-13th July 2018 in Sydney. We have keynote speaker Dr.Dinah Eastop, Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL, and are seeking further speakers and contributors to present alongside her. 
The event has no specific theme, so any textile related topics are welcome. Some general topics may include but are not limited to:
 
•     Conservation research 
•     Treatment developments
•     Interesting case studies
•     Mounting and display 
 
The organising committee now welcomes abstracts of 300 words for papers, lightning talks and posters. Paper presentations should be tailored to 20 minutes in length with written papers of approximately 2500 - 3000 words for publishing. Lightning talks should be tailored to approximately 5 minutes in length with an abstract for publishing. Posters will be hard copy format with abstracts published. Other types of submission may also be incorporated into the symposium, such as a panel discussion. Please contact the organisers if you would like to be in a panel discussion or with any further questions or suggestions.
 
For your submission please complete the attached template and send it to tess@heightsheritage.com.au by close of business on Friday 2nd March, with confirmation of acceptance by Friday 30th March 2018.
