The descent will be on foot down the 1000 steps followed by a walk of 3 kilometres along the base of the cliffs below Katoomba Falls. If you like, you can return to the top by either the cable car or the even more exciting funicular railway. You can purchase this one-way ticket out of valley for $21 at your own expense which you pay for afterwards at Scenic World once you get up there.
